If you ask me what the best part of Kenya Week at the Osaka Expo 2025 was, I’ll tell you this without blinking: giving out flowers.
That was the moment everything made sense.
There’s something powerful about watching people — strangers from all over the world — light up because someone handed them a stem grown with love back home in Kenya. I’m talking full-blown smiles, warm “thank yous,” hugs, and in some cases… people just standing still, admiring a rose like it held secrets from heaven. 🌹✨
It wasn’t just about the giving. It was the conversations that followed.
We spoke with people from Japan, Korea, Canada, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, Egypt — I mean, you name it. They all had questions about Kenya.
Where is it located?
What’s it like growing flowers there?
How do you keep them fresh all the way to Japan?
Suddenly, we weren’t just flower farmers anymore. We were ambassadors of Kenyan joy, and our blooms were the icebreaker.
Some asked if the colors were real (yes, they are).
Others wanted to know if we use chemicals (we’re sustainable, thank you very much).
One man even asked to take a flower home for his daughter because “she’s needs to know how it feels to be gifted flowers.” 🥹
That one made me pause.
In between handing out flowers and answering questions, we even got to do a short interview about what took us to Japan. As mentioned in the earlier article, expectation and reality were worlds apart. This wasn’t about numbers or vase life anymore. It was about moments.
The Kenya Pavilion came alive with music, culture, color, and most importantly, connection.
We wore our Kenyan beads with pride, laughed with delegates from other countries, and posed for what must’ve been a thousand photos.
By the end of the day, our feet were aching… but our hearts were full.
So yes, we went to Osaka to represent our farm.
But we came back representing something much bigger —
Hope. Kindness. Unity. And a flower-powered kind of magic.
